At the helm of the GAIN Group is Anneke de Bod. She drives business strategy by expertly weaving her hands-on logistics management experience within the Transnet Group, her lecturing position at Stellenbosch University and her contributions to peer-reviewed articles with her varied consulting experiences. Fascinated by the concept of people engagement – be they employees or customers – she never stops asking “What if?…”. Those two magic words constantly expand boundaries to raise the delivery bar and ensure that practical solutions creatively surpass their academic foundation. With more than 12 years’ experience in strategy development and management consulting, Anneke has the vision and inspired passion to lead GAIN Group to its future.

Jan Havenga

Jan Havenga is an experienced market researcher, macro-logistics researcher and consultant, strategic and change management specialist and corporate strategy and marketing expert. He is also a National Research Foundation rated researcher, based on his consistent contribution to freight flow and logistics cost measurement to inform national development, infrastructure planning and rail renaissance.

The initiator of GAIN Group’s internal freight flow and logistics costs models, Jan has been involved in the evolution of these models for more than a decade. A world-renowned specialist in his field, Jan also lectures full-time at the University of Stellenbosch on an undergraduate and graduate level and is regularly invited to lecture as part of executive education programmes.

Zane Simpson

The mastermind behind GAIN Group’s freight flow and logistics costs models for South Africa, Zane Simpson can build the puzzle of the country’s freight transport system with his eyes closed. He and his team annually update GAIN Group’s suite of models. Never satisfied with the status quo, the models are refined and expanded every year to provide new functionality and insights. His role as researcher at the Department of Logistics, University of Stellenbosch keeps him in touch with new developments in the transport modelling sphere and has given him global recognition as a published researcher.

Stefaan Swarts

Stefaan Swarts is able to translate the intricate complexities of real-life problems into detailed models. This ability to focus on detail without losing sight of the bigger picture has stood him in good stead while obtaining his Masters degree in Operations Research and has made him a valuable team member for the conceptualisation and development of new models.
